You can't photograph if you don't connect with the place first. You need to be invisible with the camera, but the culture needs to be close to you. First you see the photograph with your eyes. Often you click with your mind. Then you raise the camera quickly and with clear intention.
To provide a meaning to the world, one must feel involved in what one singles out through the viewfinder.Henri Cartier-Bresson
I came to photography late. I studied computer science in Athens and mobile engineering in Copenhagen. Before photography, there was dance — touring Europe with Artisstep, and teaching seminars around the world. Nothing is a straight line. Everything taught me one thing: to observe and to pay attention to detail.
Photography for me is not premeditated. It's pure instinct.Nikos Economopoulos
The photographer I keep returning to is Nikos Economopoulos. His frames are full — full of stories and full of open questions. That is the direction I work toward — reacting to what is there, and trying to convey the story within the frame. I travel often and widely to discover the world and to discover myself.
