Summer Secrets: The Baths of Helen of Troy

STORIESGREECESeptember 30, 20245 MIN READ

Loutra Oraias Elenis is a place where I spend my summers. It's a small coastal settlement that takes its name from the mythical Helen of Troy, known primarily for its natural thermal springs — where the water holds the same temperature year-round, which is genuinely unusual.

During summer 2024, I spent most mornings walking around the area with my camera, photographing the natural surroundings in the early hours or late afternoon, documenting daily life and the summer landscape — a place that by now feels almost like a second home.

All photos were taken with my Leica Q3 (Summilux 28mm f/1.7) and Fujifilm XT-5 (XF 27mm f/2.8).

What pulls me to a place is always the people and the environment. I try to be invisible — unnoticed. You frame it first in your mind, then raise the camera. You carry the story into the frame.
